Mid-1800s German no-label Violin $1,800
This instrument by all evidence is a no-label German violin made in the mid-1800’s…150 years old! The violin has had a restoration by a qualified master violin maker. It is healthy and ready to play.
This violin has a booming sound. You have to hear it up against other instruments, which is something I can provide for you. It is such a fine looking violin. It looks well used with sporadic crackling in the aged varnish. It has carefully inlaid double purfling which gives is a unique character. It has a one-piece flamed maple back, subtle with thinner striping. It also has modern hardwood and ebony hardware including birds eye pegs, and walnut tailpiece and chinrest.
Among the most unique features is that the violin is slightly oversized although with a Stradivari design. The violin comes with an old case that happens to fit its longer
size. The new owner will have to find a slightly large violin case that can be pounded out to fit the violin, or I can help locate something.
Given the sound that booms out of this violin with an open tone, this violin would be suited quite well as a fiddle. It would also make a wonderful classical instrument, although if that is you, you may be concerned about the no-label or restoration. As stated the restoration was done professionally and there were no cosmetic changes made to the violin. The bass bar had to be replaced.
For an advanced classical student that is looking for a unique German violin 150 years old that sounds amazingly good at a practical price, this is the right instrument for you. The sound of this violin beats many more pedigreed violins. This also makes a fine vintage, antique collector instrument for the mid-1800’s period. (continued below...)

My profits go toward a non-profit art & music school I am developing on a shoestring, but I can take some off the price if that is your situation. I do not have a showroom and my overhead is poverty stricken, so there is a little room. I will accept offers on the violin and am looking to make a fair deal with someone who appreciates the violin.
